Just another WordPress.com weblog about Nature and Wildlife

Today’s Bluebird blog post is part 2 of the “Birdbath Stories”.  I took these pictures of the charming Bluebird taking its bath yesterday afternoon at around 5:00PM.  If the birdbath looks familiar, it is the same one where I recently photographed a Robin taking its bath (Part 1 of the Birdbath Stories previously  posted).  This birdbath is on the front lawn of one of my neighbors and boy, is it popular with the birds here!  Birds need to bathe.  They love shallow birdbaths that are clean and have a lip where the bird can perch or hold on with its feet.  Most birds will dip multiple times and then extend their wing feathers and shake off the excess water.  Birds also tend to grab a quick drink from the bath.  It is important for people to clean their birdbaths and to keep the bath with fresh water.  The birds really appreciate these luxuries!  Part 3 of the “Birdbath Stories” will be posted here soon.  Please click on the thumbnail image to see the larger photo.  Enjoy!

  1. Hi Linda, Great picture of the Bluebird in the birdbath…. I love watching the birds in my birdbath… They LOVE it….

Hope you are having a great week.

  2. Our birdbath was frozen over this morning and there were two customers there wanting a drink when I first looked out. Had to take out a glass of hot water to melt the ice for them.
