A Potted Squirrel?

No not a drunken squirrel  but just one that was busy burying its Acorns in the soft potting soil in that large flower-pot on my back deck.  The Grey Squirrels are smart in that the soft soil in the flower-pots seems a lot easier to dig in than the hard gravel strewn ground here.  So I have the cute picture and the squirrel has its Acorn snack.  I do go around and dig out the buried Acorns as I am not wanting any more Oak trees any time soon!   I snapped these pictures the day before yesterday on my deck.  Not much has been happening in the last couple of days here with regards to wildlife.  I am hopeful that more animals and birds will be out and about soon for me to take pictures of.  Please click on the thumbnail image to see the larger picture.  Enjoy!

  1. oh, that is too cute!!! poor squirrel will be surprised when he comes back to reclaim his prize and it’s gone!

    • Hi Texwisgirl, Yes, unfortunately for the little squirrel, the Acorn or nut will be long gone. I do sweep the nuts and Acorns over the deck to the ground so maybe the squirrel re-buries that same treat (or another gets the goods). Have a wonderful Monday tomorrow and a fabulously nice coming week.

  2. This is one of the funniest things I have ever seen!!! What a lazy squirrel!

  3. How cute, what a great sight to watch. Love the photos.

  4. That’s really cute! I read all of your posts anyway, but with that title, who couldn’t stop by!

  5. I agree, that is one of the cutest squirrel photos I have even seen!

  6. They can be nice –as long as they don’t dig up some of our spring bulbs…. Grrrrrrrrrrr… Between the squirrels and chipmunks, we stay BUSY… ha ha
    Hugs,
    Betsy
