Just another WordPress.com weblog about Nature and Wildlife

I live just up a small hill from a little private community lake.  The small flock of Canada Geese that lives in the neighborhood often goes back and forth from the pond here to the lake.  The geese also fly around that little lake at various times of the day.  Yesterday and on Sunday, I was out on my driveway taking pictures of the geese flying on the lake down the hill.  I am also including a shot of the lake as viewed from my driveway.  I likely only will have a Winter view of the lake from my house due to the many trees.  The view is quite pretty in all types of weather.  One of the neat things about this little lake is that there is a tiny, well-treed island that is visible from my driveway.   The geese and I both like the lake a lot!  I don’t have access to use the lake but do enjoy the nice view.  Please click on the thumbnail image to see the larger picture.  Enjoy!

  1. i think you need to get to know your neighbors and get invited to view the lake from their property! 🙂

    • Hi Texwisgirl, I have met one of the two neighbors that live on this lake – others live much farther down the road. Nice family. I will try to meet the other family soon. I also have met my back fence neighbor who is not lake front but does own and manage the pond here – also very nice. I am easy-going and get along well with others. Have a wonderful day today!

  2. That is a nice view! We still have a lot of geese here now: they haven’t all gone down your way. They are very wild though because of the hunting pressure they’ve had this year.

    • Hi Montucky, Thanks! I can imagine so about that hunting pressure there in your area at times. Glad you do get to have lots of waterfowl at times. Have a wonderful day today!

  3. It is snowing on your blog, too. How pretty!!

  4. You do have a nice view of the lake. You will be able to watch all the geese and ducks. Great shots.

  5. So this is not the same lake you just moved away from? Pretty neat that you are so close to another lake, and also have a little pond on your own property!

    • Hi Kateri, No, this little lake is just across the street and down a small hill from my new home. Glad you do have an opportunity to maybe see a Loon in your region. Have a wonderful day today!

  6. We have some Canada Geese in Strathclyde Park and Baron’s Haugh in Motherwell (Scotland). They come over for the winter from Scandinavia and leave again in the Spring.

    • Hi Janeslog, Welcome! I am happy you also get to see the beautiful Canada Geese! Have a wonderful coming week!

      • We also had a visitor from America in October when a Long-billed Dowicher was blown over in the storm. It arrived in Baron’s Haugh in Motherwell. Caused a bit of a stir and people from all over Scotland and England came to see it.

There were also some in Ayrshire and some in the Solway Firth.
