Just another WordPress.com weblog about Nature and Wildlife

There are now two families of Canada Geese here.  One is the family with seven goslings that were born just at the first of May and the other is a family with two goslings that are now about almost two weeks old.  They are so cute!  I often see the families here in the early morning.  I was surprised to see the geese under the bird feeder yesterday morning!  Guess it is a big draw for more than the songbirds.  I also know that the parent geese have taught the youngsters about the driveway and cars.  Mom and Dad geese hurry the little ones away from the driveway whenever a car is nearby.  The geese are fun to watch!  I took these pictures in my yard or from my living room window on May 22, 2012 and May 24, 2012.  Please click on the thumbnail image to see the larger picture.  Enjoy!

  1. How sweet! What a thrilling experience to have them as feeder birds! We saw one little gosling asleep under a standing parent last Saturday. The others must have been hidden in the grass.

  3. Aww, so cute!!! Do you come out and feed them? i know they come to the feeder…actually I have been reading that bread is not good for ducks or geese, it makes thier bones full of holes and they die. Our park provides food and is still begging people not to feed the ducks bread.

    • Hi Ginny, No, I don’t intentionally feed the geese or ducks here. The Canada Geese at a nearby State Park were so used to getting fed by the visitors, they would come up to any person walking by. Have a super great day today and a fantastic Memorial Day!

  4. My, they grow quickly! The ones here look to be about the same size as these.

    • Hi Montucky, As I looked at the goslings just last evening at about 5:00 I was thinking how fast they grew from even when I took the pictures a few days ago. Glad you enjoy the geese there!

  5. They are so cute, they do seem to grow up fast. Great shots, have a wonderful day.
