Just another WordPress.com weblog about Nature and Wildlife

I am seeing Cotton-tailed Rabbits in the yards on a daily basis now.  There may be three or four living here.  They burrow in the ground and also like to go under sheds where it is safe and cool.  The Rabbits eat a variety of plants and fruit.  So far, the garden is still OK but the bunnies have been into it a bit.  I think we will soon build a fence.  No hunting for us.  I am going to be taking a two-week break from blogging so I will be right back here again on July 1, 2012.  Please click on the thumbnail image to see the larger picture.  Enjoy!

  1. We have rabbits also, Linda. I think they have homes in the empty lot next door (and/or across the street) since they live underground… Luckily, they have not bothered our flowers this year—so far!

    • Hi Betsy, Glad you don’t have any trouble from your Rabbits there in the Glade. I never did either when we lived there. Just saw them running around the neighborhood. Here the bunnies hang out in the shade just at the fringe of woodland where it meets the grass here. Lots of cover in case of marauding neighborhood Beagles (true). Have a wonderful day!

enjoy your break, dearie! see you when you return!

    • Hi Theresa (TexWisGirl), Thanks, I will. I just use the Wildlifewatcher name here most of the time to keep the focus on the critters and not myself. Either name is OK with me. Have a super nice day!

  4. If you build a fence, keep in mind that rabbits live in warrens and they burrow, so they could tunnel right under the fence. I am so glad you are not going to kill them. Hope you have a wonderful vacation!!

  5. Enjoy your break!

  6. Cute bunnies! Have a great time on your break, see you when you get back.

  7. An airborn bunny! Great capture! 🙂
