Birds in the Yard

A Mourning Dove

A Female Northern Yellow-shafted Flicker

A Great Blue Heron, a pair of Northern Yellow-shafted Flickers, and a Mourning Dove were among the birds that have been in my yards in the last couple of days.  I took allofthese pictures on July 10, 2012 and again on July 11, 2012 in my yards.  Please click on the thumbnail image to see the larger picture.  Enjoy!

  1. Isn’t it just so much fun watching the birds? Our birds have really been at the feeders this week… The rain makes them come!!!!!

We have really gotten alot of rain. According to our rain gauge, we have had almost 6 inches this week….

    Hugs,
    Betsy

always love that you have flickers!

  3. I love the flickers, I wish I would see them more around here. I can here though but they stay just out of sight. The heron shot is pretty. I wish you a happy weekend.

    • Hi Eileen, Thank you! I sometimes do hear the flicker and don’t see it. Of course, I have been fooled by the Mockingbird once or twice on that issue. : )
      Have a great Saturday tomorrow!

  4. That’s a terrific setting for the heron. It just seems to fit there!

    • Hi Montucky, Yes, I agree! The Great Blue Heron likely lives in the trees at the upper end area of the pond or very close by. Have an especially nice day today!

  5. You have a great yard, Wildlifewatcher! 🙂

    • Hi Seasons, Thanks! I like it. Glad to say our recent few days of rain has begun the process of getting things back to green around here. Yeah! Have a very good day tomorrow!
