Lil’ Sweeties

A White-breasted Nuthatch, Tufted Titmouse, Carolina Chickadee and a couple of House Finches were all recent visitors to the bird feeder.  These small birds are cute, smart, interesting, and very sweet birds.  I so enjoy seeing these little guys.  The Carolina Chickadee is the one with the black mask and bib.  The gray one with the top-knot is the Tufted Titmouse, the brown streaky birds with slight red tinges are male House Finches, and the torpedo-shaped gray and black and white bird with the slender bill is the White-breasted Nuthatch.  All like the Black Oil Sunflower seeds.  The finches also really go for the Millet seed.  I took these pictures on September 12, 2012 and again on September 13, 2012 in my yard.  Please click on the thumbnail image to see the larger picture.  Enjoy!

  1. oh, that sweet little nuthatch! the finch in take-off is a brilliant shot! 🙂

  2. Great birds yo have there, I do love the sweet nuthatches. The finch shot is funny, great capture. Have a great evening and week ahead.

    • Hi Eileen, Yes the little birds are wonderful. The nuthatches are curious about me and will tolerate me being out on the porch if I stand still. Have a great day tomorrow!

  3. Our birds all like the sunflower seeds too. What would bird lovers do without them!

    • Hi Montucky, A bonus is that these seeds are easily found and are relatively inexpensive. Have a great Tuesday tomorrow! Very rainy here but no flooding where I live tonight.

  4. Sweet little birds! I really like the House finch taking off. 🙂

It’s kind of strange, now that it is cooling off we’re not getting as many birds. I hope migration will bring a fresh batch to hang around for the winter.

    • Hi Birding Bunch, We are experiencing many of the same conditions plus driving rain. Today we had a lot less rain and more drizzle and gray skies. Hoping you’ll have lots of beautiful migratory birds and waterfowl soon. Have a great day!

  5. I really enjoy these birds! 🙂

  6. A little sweetie indeed!
