House Finches

House Finches are lovely little brown, and buff birds.  The males also have a tinge of Coral red color on their heads and upper chest during the Spring and Summer months.  These birds have been here at the bird feeder more often than any other bird in recent weeks.  Right now, there are only a few kinds of birds still here.  We are between migrations it seems.  Later on we will have the Winter visitors here.  I am not sure if the House Finches are going to stay here or will move South.  I sure have enjoyed seeing the flock of finches here!  Please click on the thumbnail image to see the larger picture.  Enjoy!

  1. i noticed we’ve had a few more of them here this past week, as well.

    • Hi Theresa, I am thinking more and more that these finches will stay here all Winter. Time will tell. Interesting that your area has a lot of finches around as well. Have a super nice Tues. tomorrow!

  2. We had lots of finches around early in summer, then they dwindled to a few. The past few days I’ve seen many at our feeders. They are traveling or settling in for the winter.
