Migratory ducks on the pond are some of my favorite visiting wildlife here. The late Fall through the Winter months will see a number of different types of ducks visit the little farm pond. Last year these ducks happened by: Mallard Ducks, Wood Ducks, Hooded Mergansers, Blue-winged Teal Ducks, and the Ring-necked Ducks. I also recall seeing a Bufflehead but I don’t think I have the picture handy.
These migratory ducks are really nice to see on the pond as they are up-close and personal. Many are diving ducks and eat fish, frogs, and small turtles. A few just eat plants, grains, and fruits. There are lots of different types of foods for the ducks here on this pond. I took these pictures last Winter here at the pond. Please click on the thumbnail image to see the larger picture. Enjoy!

Great set of photos… I love the Hooded Mergansers. Oh My—I just love them all.
Happy Thanksgiving.
Hugs,
Betsy
Hi Betsy, Yes, you are right! Ducks are great. Lots of opportunities for you to see ducks in your community! There are often a lot of the Winter ducks near St. George Marina/Dockside neighborhood and near the St. George Lake Dam. Same for Canterbury and likely Mirror. Sometimes there are good numbers of ducks at Lake Tansi, too! Have a super nice Thanksgiving!
gorgeous pairs!
Hi Theresa, I agree and love seeing ducks – even the mostly tame park ducks on some lakes. Have a wonderful day!
Ducks are certainly pretty and fun to watch! I love to hear them too.
Hi Montucky, This morning at about 8:00, I heard quacking that sounded like a Mallard Duck, coming from somewhere near the pond. I could not see a duck but they are around. Hope to see some on the water soon! Glad you also get to watch ducks. Have a fine day!
Wonderful collection of ducks. Two of my favorites are the wood ducks and the Mergansers. But they are all very nice. Have a great day, Linda!
