Peek-a-Boo Mallard

This drake Mallard Duck was poking around and nosing in and out of the reeds and bull rushes along the opposite side of the pond from my home.  I spent a few moments watching it go in and out of the brushy cover.  After awhile, I noticed that along with the drake or male, there also was the hen nestled among the bent reeds.  I think that there are perhaps seven Mallard Ducks on the pond here.   I took these pictures on a very cold day on Jan. 18, 2013 from my front porch.  Please click on the thumbnail image to see the larger picture.  Enjoy!

love to see these fellows on the pond.

  2. Nice photos. You are blessed with such a view. 🙂

  3. Good pictures. Yes, the Mallards are still around here, too. It seems they never leave.

  4. They are sure pretty to watch! Our ponds are all frozen here, so we see few Mallards. THe river is open though and full of geese and Goldeneyes.
