This drake Mallard Duck was poking around and nosing in and out of the reeds and bull rushes along the opposite side of the pond from my home. I spent a few moments watching it go in and out of the brushy cover. After awhile, I noticed that along with the drake or male, there also was the hen nestled among the bent reeds. I think that there are perhaps seven Mallard Ducks on the pond here. I took these pictures on a very cold day on Jan. 18, 2013 from my front porch.
