Eastern Blue Jays and Tufted Titmice have been here in the neighborhood for the past week.  These are likely migrant visitor birds here for the Winter from up North.  The Eastern Blue Jays are loud, brash beautiful White and Turquoise Blue-colored birds with black accents.  They are flashy and are bold birds.

The Tufted Titmice are charming little grey birds with their cute top knot.  Both birds are excellent at getting insects for their dinner.  They also will eat fruit, and nuts and seeds.  The Titmice are here in a flock of about fifteen birds.  I am not sure that there are as many Blue Jays around.  I have only seen a pair of the Jays.  I took the pictures here in my yard on Oct. 1, 2013.  Please click on the thumbnail image to see the larger picture.  Enjoy!DSC_6208

  1. Now that I bought extra peanuts for the Blue Jays, ours are gone for the winter. I don’t know where they go since they don’t leave TN… BUT–every year, they disappear during the late Fall and Winter… This year, they may have left early since we were gone. Want some of my peanuts????? ha ha

    Hugs,
    Betsy

    • Hi Betsy, So you have mysterious blue jays that migrate around in TN. Maybe they go around Lake Tansi? Who can say. Have a fine weekend. I do think you may be getting a few edge rainstorms from “Karen”. Maybe as much as we should get here in Marion County, FL.

  2. we have had a lot of jays here this year.

    • Hi Theresa, Glad you have these handsome and beautiful but bold birds. I have not yet seen any Scrub Jays here but I do hope to. They are getting to be rarely seen birds in Marion County, Florida. Have a great weekend!

  3. Titmouse are cute and adorable, and jays are bullies, though gorgeous!!

    • Hi Ginny, Well, the Crows tend to be the resident bird police in my neighborhood so I don’t think the Eastern Blue Jays get out of line too often. The Titmice are still around but the day has been cloudy and windy so not many birds out. Have a great weekend!

  4. The Jays are so fun to have around and watch! And the Titmouse are so cute! You have some great birds there! Have a happy weekend!

  5. I admire your blue jays! I only got to see a couple all summer. We did have a visit from one of their cousins yesterday, a Clark’s Nutcracker.

    • Hi Montucky, I am happy for you. I never have seen a Clark’s Nutcracker. Would be a nice bird to get to see. Have a really nice evening and a great day tomorrow!
