A Curious Squirrel

DSC_6639 (1)

This Grey Squirrel seemed very curious as to what I was doing with the camera.  It noticed me and froze as many squirrels do when uncertain about a situation.  After a few moments, it relaxed and came toward me a bit.  It then went about its routine gathering Magnolia seed pods and Acorns for its meal.  It seemed to enjoy the red Magnolia seeds a lot!

There are a lot of Grey Squirrels here in my neighborhood.  Of course, I do live on a tree-lined street with many Live Oaks, Sycamores, Magnolias and Long-leafed Pines plus the odd Acacia tree.  So there is plenty of food for all the squirrels to share.  Please click on the thumbnail image to see the larger picture.  Enjoy!

  1. OH My… No matter how ‘cute’ they are, they are my least favorite animal in the world I think —well, maybe chipmunks are in that same category also!!!!! ha… Squirrels and Chipmunks destroy our flowerbeds and eat our spring bulbs… Drives us nuts!!!!! ha (YET–there are always TONS of nuts around for them to eat!!!!)

    Hugs,
    Betsy

  2. Cute shots of the squirrel. I have plenty squirrel visitors, they eat more than half of my bird seeds. Wishing you a happy weekend!

    • Hi Eileen, I don’t have a bird feeder or a veggie garden at the moment. I have a super tiny back patio here. I am trying to line up a plot in one of the two community gardens but there is a list. So yes, I am pretty wary of the little cuties running around with those adorable eyes and bushy tails. They are really cute however! Have a great weekend!

  3. Cute photos! We have a little pine squirrel in residence now too. Sure is fun to watch!

    • Hi Montucky, I really enjoy watching the squirrels here. Very interesting. We have about four animals in our yards here with others nearby. Glad to hear you also see squirrels around and enjoy them. Have a great weekend!
