DSC_8069 - Version 2

This Red-bellied Woodpecker was busily climbing up the trunk and pecking on a limb of one of the older trees here on the street where I live.  I took the pictures on December 26, 2013.  Please click on the thumbnail image to see the larger picture.  I am wishing everyone a very happy new year in 2014!

  4. Happy, happy new year. You took some nice photos last year. 😀

Today, we started our year off with birding. A new year brings a new list. Several of the little ones got up early to start their lists (for a birding contest) and were all excited about those birds that were quite boring yesterday.

    • Hi Birding Bunch, Happy New Year to you and your family as well. Yes, a new list is quite exciting. I am looking forward to seeing many birds in coming weeks here. I also hope to see an Alligator in the wild (I had done so about 20 years ago). Have a really nice rest of the week. Happy Birding!

  5. Glad you still have plenty of the woodies! Happy New Year!

    • Hi Montucky, Yes, this Red-belly and a little Downy are around here – I think they live around the corner in one of the big Oaks that border my backyard. Have a Happy New Year! Stay warm and enjoy your trails, mountains and any and all critters!
