Muscovy Ducks in Juliette, GA

These Muscovy Ducks were friendly residents of the shoreline of a body of water quite close to Juliette, GA on Highway 18.  I think that this body of water is a large dammed section of the river but it also could be a small segment of Lake Juliette.  I am not sure.  These ducks have had a lot of visitors feeding them over the years, I think.

My husband and I were the only people visiting the small park’s dirt parking lot,  just off the highway early one evening at about 6:00pm, and boy, the ducks were sure interested in us!  The ducks begged but we did not have anything to offer so they got the message and waddled off.  These are often farm ducks and I think the pair may have been offspring of escapees from a nearby farm.

This area of Georgia is lush and oh-so-beautiful!  Juliette, GA is where the 1991 movie, “Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Cafe” was filmed.  We were only there for about a half-hour as we were RV camping for the night in Forsythe, GA, about 20 miles away.  We were on-route from FL to TN on that particular trip earlier this Summer.  Please click on the thumbnail image to see the larger picture.  Enjoy!  Have a great and safe Labor Day holiday today.

  1. i love muscovies. had a small flock here for a while, but when we rescued thelma and louise (dogs) and brought them home, they drove off or eliminated them. *sigh*

    • Hi Theresa, Glad you enjoyed having the ducks at your fine pond – the pups did what pups do so that is sadly, nature (I had same happen with chickens long ago). Have a great day!

  2. Ducks have an endearing quality about them, don’t they!

  3. Happy Labor Day… Hope you are having a great day. We finally got some rain here this weekend (which we needed)–but this week promises to be a hot one… I’m SO ready for Fall…

Beautiful muscovies…. We’ve never been to that section of GA When we traveled from TN to FL (to visit my brother in the nursing home when he was alive)–we always stayed in Waycross.

    • Hi Betsy, So happy that you have recently had a bit of rain. Good. We also have had rain here – nearly daily but not soaking (that was up in Gainesville). Have a really fine coming week.

  4. Looks like a pretty place. The ducks are cute! Have a happy week!
