Just another WordPress.com weblog about Nature and Wildlife

Titmice, Cardinals, Carolina Wrens, and Carolina Chickadees were all spotted in the trees and around the yards along my street in the last few days  It appears that some of these birds may be molting (seasonally shedding and regrowing feathers).

It has been a while since I have seen so many songbirds here.  The acorns are now dropping from the Oaks, so maybe the food supply of acorns and related insects is more plentiful than was earlier in the Summer here.  Perhaps, too, the resident hawk has not been around as often.  Please click on the thumbnail image to see the larger picture.  Enjoy!

  1. I can’t remember whether you have bird feeders out at your home down there… I love feeding my backyard birds. I just posted a photo of a wonderful baby Cardinal on Facebook… Such a Sweetie…

    You got some great photos.

    • Hi Betsy, No I don’t have a feeder up. My next door neighbors have one that they mostly keep full. I’m sure your feeders up there at your place in the ‘Glade attract beautiful birds year around. Have an excellent day today and another fine day tomorrow. Enjoy your lovely yards with your flowers and golf scenery.

  2. It’s really nice to have the little ones around. I think we nay have a hawk around lately too because the number of birds has decreased at the feeder.

    • Hi Montucky, That would do it quickly as I have seen here. Our team of Crows is back in force and have probably gotten the upper hand with that Red-shouldered Hawk that was hanging around for months. Have a wonderful day!

  3. i love having each one of these cuties around here, too. 🙂
