Crows Along the Street

DSC_4254

Common Crows have been around here on my street in the last couple of weeks bravely battling the resident Red-shouldered Hawk and even chasing off a small bunch of  raucous Eastern Blue Jays.  The Crows are pretty common (pun intended) in this development and in the Ocala, FL area.

Crows are part of nature’s clean-up squad and also enjoy the bounty of the Live Oak Trees here.  There are Acorns, insects,  and many other types of food around on this street for these bird to dine on.  These medium-sized birds are noisy, pleasant and smart.  I took these pictures here last Sunday.  Please click on the thumbnail image to see the larger picture.  Enjoy!

  1. i do like their raucous calling and their busy-ness around the feeders and bird baths. 🙂

    • Hi Theresa, Yes, the crows are loud and very interesting to observe. Very smart social birds, too. I often see a bunch of the birds patrol the street with one or two crows up in the trees or on a roof scouting or keeping watch. I think the crows actually serve as guardians for the songbirds. Have a great weekend and thanks for your always appreciated comments!
