Eastern Blue Jay Chilling

DSC_4585

This Eastern Blue Jay was just chilling out, totally relaxed on a hot muggy Florida afternoon.  The beautiful blue, black and white bird was perched in an Oak branch fairly near my neighbor’s bird feeder.   Smart bird.  This bird just was perched there in the cool shade, not moving much at all.  There has been a number of Eastern Blue Jays around the neighborhood in recent days.

There is an abundance of food now so the birds are quite happy.  Eastern Blue Jays are enjoying the small Acorns of the Live Oaks here.  I took these pictures on Sept. 18, 2014.  Please click on the thumbnail image to see the larger picture.  Enjoy!

  1. i like content birds and animals. 🙂

  2. They are sure pretty! Seeing one calm is unusual. On a hike last week we say some Stellar’s Jays… and hear them too. Very loud, but very welcome.

    • Hi Montucky, Stellar’s Jays are beautiful. I am looking forward to one day seeing a Florida Scrub Jay. I have seen Stellar’s Jays in CA as well as the CA Scrub Jay. All Jays that I have seen are wonderful birds. Intelligent and pretty. Have a great weekend!

  3. I love our Blue Jays here. We have been told by others that they are aggressive and scare the other birds away.. Not true here… They do make a lot of noise —but never have they ever seemed like bullies.

  4. I love the loud jays! They are always fun to have around! Happy weekend to you!

    • Hi Eileen, Yes, Jays are quite a lot of fun. Usually they are pretty hyperactive so it was nice to see one that was calm – I doubt it was ill – it was just resting. Have a super good weekend!
