Today’s woodpeckers are the Downy and Red-bellied Woodpeckers. I took the two pictures of the tiny Downy on Oct. 4, 2014. The pictures of the Red-bellied Woodpecker were taken on Oct. 7, 2014. Hi Eileen, Thanks! I was happy to get up close to the bird. It was so interested in the caterpillar or insect it was oblivious to my presence. I was just under the tree when I got many of the pictures of the Red-bellied. Have a wonderful Thurs. tomorrow!
Woodpeckers are always a favorite of mine… We have Downys and Red-bellied all year –plus our Pileated.. When the Red-Headed visit me, I get so excited….

Very pretty birds! The only woodie that I’ve seen recently is the Flicker.
Hi Montucky, Funny you should mention the Flicker – it is the woodpecker I have never seen here. We are supposed to have them in N.Central FL but gee, I have not seen any here. Have a wonderful day today!
