Just another WordPress.com weblog about Nature and Wildlife

These hawks were spotted just down the road from each other.  One was in a huge old Pine and the other was up on an electric pole here in the development where I live.  I took these pictures on Nov. 9, 2014.  Please click on the thumbnail image to see the larger picture.  Enjoy!

  1. they’re just beautiful. red-shouldered are our most prevalent hawk here.

  2. They’re pretty birds… well, maybe not from the perspective of a song bird.

    • Hi Montucky, Yes, the songbirds do shudder in fear. I saw these near where the area where I used to see a lot of Red-headed Woodpeckers at. Funny thing is that I have not seen any Red-headed Woodpeckers at all this past year there at the “Woodpecker colony” pasture. Have a pleasant day tomorrow!

  3. When I was outside yesterday, I saw a hawk circling around the area. I wasn’t in the back yard –but I’ll bet that my little bird friends were HIDING… As I’ve said, we have 3-4 M. Doves here —so I’ll bet the hawk knows that!!!!!

    Cold and Flurries here today.
    Hugs,
    Betsy

    • Hi Betsy, Going to be a c-o-l-d Winter! I hope your songbird friends are well in spite of the hawk. I am glad to say that our adult son is here from California on a short visit so I am doing more time visiting than either blog responding or birding. Have a wonderful day tomorrow and thanks as always for your extra-nice comments! Stay warm.
