  1. Pretty scenic shots and I love the cranes! What area of Florida are you in? I have been checking out a few places myself, looking to downsize and move to a warmer climate. I would love to be close to all the great birding places..Have a happy day!

    • Hi Eileen, I live in Marion County just on the outskirts of Ocala. I live in a planned active adult golfing community. We are an hour to the Atlantic or the Gulf of Mexico, and 2 hrs. to Jacksonville, Orlando, or Tampa/St. Petersburg. We have good shopping, good medical, good restaurants, and nice adult education life-long learning opportunities in the Ocala area. Our weather is fine but does get colder than it does South of us in the more tropical areas of Florida. We have lower risk for tornadoes or hurricanes as we are in the center of the peninsula. We are near National Forests, and wildlife areas and also equestrian facilities. Prices are low, as are taxes. We have little crime where I live. We also have an enjoyable sense of community as many are from elsewhere in the country. Hope this all helps! I encourage you to check the Ocala area out. There are many kinds of housing choices and prices here.

      • Downsides: Insects (lots!), sandy soils, high humidity in Summer, higher insurance costs, and warm water lakes with Alligators. Just so you know. I am trying to show a balanced view of the area. I do encourage you to check it out.

      • Thanks, someone else mentioned Ocala to me.. a 55+ community is what we are looking for.. But, we do not gulf..I appreciate the reply…Have a happy Friday!

      • I live in a 55+ active community which is one of the largest here in the Ocala area. There are several really nice developments each of which has different features. I recommend Decca Realty if you decide to relocated to Ocala (I say Ocala in generalities as many developments are not within the city limits). There are monthly assoc. dues to factor in. There are conveniences to factor in. I live within walking distance to grocery stores and other shops. We also have a mini bus owned by the development that can take residents on a fixed schedule to shopping areas several days a week. The Recreation Center in our development also offers trips to many FL spots for a reasonable fee. Think long term and how things may be in your older years if deciding on a 55+ community. Lots to think about.

  2. LOVE the bottom right corner of the stretch and wingspan!

    • Hi Theresa, Yes, that was that Great Blue Heron. They are wonderful birds. I was enthusiastically watching that bird along with the Snowies that were around it. Those birds were hanging out near a boat house along the river. Lots of insects around the grassy lawn and landscaping near that riverside home on the banks of the river opposite from the park. Have a super good day!

  3. That sure is a pretty and diverse place that you have found down there!

    • Hi Montucky, Yes, this former farm is unique and quite pleasant. It is about 30 miles from our house so not terribly far away. Have a super good day today and thanks for your always nice and appreciated, comments!
