This juvenile Sharp-shinned Hawk was perched for a brief moment in a low tree across the street from my home on Saturday morning, March 7, 2015. I saw the small hawk jump up to perch, stay put a few seconds, and then streak off in a blur of pure speed!
This is that third of the hawks I have recently seen around here (maybe the other two are its parents?). I hope it can find another nice spot to hunt at with less impact on the songbirds. Please click on the thumbnail image to see the larger picture. Enjoy!

Hi Eileen, I was glad to get the pictures as the bird was still only a few moments low in the little tree. Thanks! Have an especially nice day today!
sharp-shinned and sharp-eyed! beauty! i’ve only seen one of these hawks here once and i was amazed at how small they were! still fierce hunters, though. 🙂
Hi Theresa, What amazed me was the pure speed of the low flight down the street towards prey. When on the hunt, wow did that bird fly! Have a fantastic day!
