Ranch Pond Ducks

Florida Mottled Ducks

Florida Mottled Ducks

Blue Winged Teal Ducks, Florida Mottled Ducks, and the other resident critters (Great Egret and turtles) were spotted at the Northwest Marion County horse farm pond where I often go to observe the wildlife.  This ranch pond is right down the street from where I took the pictures of that wonderful family of Sandhill Cranes, and also spotted Wild Turkeys on recent days.

I am glad I was able to see the ducks as this pond may have fewer ducks and other visitors in coming days due to major equestrian events which are happening on this very beautiful horse farm.  I took these pictures on March 16, 2015.  Please click on the thumbnail image to see the larger photo.  Enjoy!

  1. i like those mottled ducks. 🙂 yes, they better find another pond for a few days!

  2. I like to see the mottled ducks too. I see lots of teal here, but none of the mottled.

    • HI Montucky, Glad you have Teals in your locality. They sure are handsome and beautiful ducks! Yes, the Mottled are great, too. I hope you get to see the mottled ducks someday! Have a pleasant Thursday tomorrow!

  3. Hi There, I agree with your other comments. The mottled ducks are NEAT… Thanks for sharing…

It was warm here for several days and spring is here … BUT–today is cold again.. SO—guess our winter is not quite over yet. However, the birds are singing and the Bluebirds are nesting..

    Hugs,
    Betsy

    • Hi Betsy, Glad your birds are nesting. A neighbor here down the street told me he has a Downy Woodpecker that moved into a decorative artistic bird house on his front porch. So art becomes real. Ha! Good for that Downy. I hope it does warm back up in Cumberland County, TN soon! Have a wonderful Thursday tomorrow!
