Just another WordPress.com weblog about Nature and Wildlife

I visited our area’s beautiful botanical park (where I spotted the owls) on March 29, 2015, and again, March 31, 2015.  I saw a few of the beautiful Cedar Waxwings high in two of the huge Pine Trees and also took pictures of a couple of the large fat Koi fish that are resident in the park pond.  The Cooter Turtles also live in that pond.

The final park critter I saw was an oh-so-cute little Grey Squirrel that scooted up to the shady Gazebo next to the Koi Pond, and snagged some of the fallen fish food on the floor (sold in a machine at the gazebo for a quarter).  That little squirrel was unafraid of people and calmly ate while four adults watched.   Please click on the thumbnail image to see the larger picture.  By the way, I have just now returned to our Florida home and am glad to be back!

  1. i love to spot waxwings, but they only come thru in winter migrations, here. LOVE that little squirrel! butt firmly planted just eating away! 🙂

    • Hi Theresa, I think that the squirrel there at the park must see lots of people as it was so calm about four adults being mere feet from it. It was on a mission to get lots of the fish pellets into its mouth as if it was a chipmunk! Ha! I really enjoy this local park. Thanks for your great comments and have a truly wonderful day!

  2. You have all kinds of local wildlife around this week! They all waited for you to get back!
I love that little squirrel. We had a red squirrel live here for about a year and then suddenly disappeared. Now we have a cottontail though and it’s fun to watch too.

    • Hi Montucky, Cottontails are very cute! When we were in TN last week, the campground RV park we stayed at had a bunch of free-range domestic farm bunnies (black colored rabbits) that were all around in the late afternoon and evening. Very cute to watch. Have a great Tuesday tomorrow!

  3. This park look like a great place to see the wildlife.. I love the waxwings, they are beautiful! And the squirrel looks cute and tame! Have a happy day and week ahead!

    • Hi Eileen, Yes, it usually is a nice spot to see wildlife. Hit and miss as are many places but overall, I am quite pleased with visiting this local spot. It is especially lovely, too! Have a great day today and thanks for your great comments!
