Just another WordPress.com weblog about Nature and Wildlife

These songbirds and ducks were spotted in the last few days  in the housing development where I live.  I am greeted each morning with bird song!  Such a nice thing to happen.   By the  way, the crow shown above, was drinking a few drops of water out of the rain gutter on top of the roof.  Of course, I also enjoy the ducks but they are really just come and go visitors here.  We do also have rabbits and squirrels around here but I seldom see the bunnies out.

The ducks are a pair of Florida Mottled Ducks that are trying to set up a nest at the larger rainfall retention pond next to the health club.  I sure hope for their sake that this rainfall retention basin pond actually gets to stay wet.  Please click on the thumbnail image to see the slightly larger picture.  Have a great coming week and enjoy!

  1. That’s really a pretty setting for those ducks! I hope the water remains too!

  2. love the flycatcher! and love your mottled ducks, too.

    • Hi Theresa, Those little guys are under-appreciated birds! They are great at hunting down mosquitos and other nuisance bugs and insects. Glad to have the pint-sized wonders around. Have a really good day tomorrow!

  3. Great variety! I love the flycatcher and the bunny is adorable.. Have a great evening and enjoy your week ahead!

    • Hi Eileen, I love spotting rabbits as they are getting scarce around (good for the flowers and veggies I suppose). It rained today a little so that will be helpful in keeping the ducks happy in the rainfall retention pond near the fitness spa. Have a wonderful Wednesday tomorrow an thanks for your great comments!
