Just another WordPress.com weblog about Nature and Wildlife

Three Red-shouldered Hawks together was an amazing sight to see, even from a distance.  This is the first time I have ever spotted three hawks in the same place on the ground!  I saw the hawks at the larger of the rainfall retention ponds here in our development.  One was eating some sort of prey and the others were flying and landing.  I believe the hawk with its wings spread is a female.  The other two look like they are males.  In the end all three flew off, with the smaller male landing on a lamp pole in the nearby parking lot.

I think this meeting of the hawks was over the prey, the lady, and territory.  I took these pictures of the nearly dry rainfall basin pond and hawks on June 5, 2015.  Please click on the thumbnail image to see the slightly larger version of that photograph.  Enjoy!
