Great Blue Heron

Great Egrets, Great Blue Herons, Tri-colored Herons all were spotted and photographed by me in the last two weeks here in The Villages, Florida.  We have a lot of small ponds, and lakes here where the waders visit and live.  I especially enjoy going to the parks and road-side ponds to snap pictures of the local water birds.  Such fun!

Most of these larger birds live year around here in the Sumter, Marion, and Lake Counties where The Villages is located (Yes it is a very huge development).  The development has set aside many wildlife areas here.  I so appreciate being able to go out and spot such a rich variety of wildlife in the community here.  Please click on the thumbnail image to see the

  1. I always enjoy seeing your Florida Birdies…. Great set of pictures… We just got home from Arkansas. Had a great time. I’ll blog about it soon.
    Hugs,
    Betsy

    • Hi Betsy, I know how much you both love your visits to the park in Arkansas. Glad you had a good trip. Enjoy your beautiful yards at your home, weather permitting!

  2. Hi All, I forgot to wish you all a very happy Leap Day!

  3. I enjoy seeing your photos of the water birds. Just don’t get to see them here other than an occasional great blue heron in the summer time. Our waterfowl are nearly all ducks and geese.

    • Hi Montucky, Glad you get the Great Blue Herons and a lot of ducks. We kind of get the bonanza here in Central Florida! We have mostly great Winter weather and fairly kind Springs. Have a super nice Tuesday tomorrow!

  4. Good morning, I almost missed this post. I do love the egrets and herons. They are all beautiful birds. Great shots. Happy Thursday, enjoy your day!
