Ibis, Herons, and a Snowy

Tri-colored Heron

These White Ibis were laying down which I had never seen before.  Generally when resting, these wading birds perch in trees.  Amazing.  I suspect this behavior helps protect the birds during hurricanes as maybe they lay under shrubbery to stay out of the high winds.  Who knows?  The photographs were taken last weekend here in The Villages, FL.  I also spotted the Trio-colored-colored Heron and Great Blue Heron at Lake Mira-mar.  Please click on the thumbnail image to see the slightly larger version of the photo.  Enjoy!

  1. I really like your photo of the Great Blue Heron!

    • Hi Montucky, I appreciate your kind comments. Thanks. That Great Blue Heron was at the same spot for several days hunting so it was pretty easy to get to the place to take decent pictures of the bird. The access is getting easier now since waters have receded. Have a wonderful weekend!

  2. good Ibis photography..
