Just another WordPress.com weblog about Nature and Wildlife

Anole Lizard

Anhingas, Monarch Butterflies, Turtles, and Anole Lizards were all spotted at the very lovely Fenney Springs Nature Trail along the springs on the boardwalk.  Such a lovely spot!  I have also spotted egrets, a Great Blue Heron, and songbirds on previous visits.  One lady mentioned she had seen a small alligator previously there at the springs (there is a pond nearby).

The area is next to a new regional community recreation center and park in the newer area of The Villages.  The developer has taken care to leave a lot of natural area within the subdivision.  I enjoy visiting this beautiful and oh-so-serene spot under large Live Oaks.  Please click on the thumbnail image to see the slightly larger version of the picture.  Enjoy!

  1. That’s really a pretty place!

    • Hi Montucky, I agree. So lovely with gigantic old Live Oaks dripping with Spanish Moss, lawns, the springs with Willows and other smaller trees and a lot of riparian vegetation. The County and the developer made an agreement to save the beautiful and needed natural areas. This is one of the jewels here in The Villages, FL! Have a wonderful day tomorrow.
