Bald Eagles in The Villages, Florida

Southern Bald Eagles were spotted on the huge electric tower near Morse Blvd. and Rio Grande here in The Villages, Florida, several days ago on a very cloudy early evening.  I took these pictures from locations on two different residential streets near the tower.  I also have cropped the pictures a lot to best show the birds (I took the pictures from quite a long way off).

This may be the same pair that was nesting on the tower last Spring.  I tend to think so.  Unfortunately for the birds, the nest was somehow destroyed by high winds just after the eaglets fledged last season.  I have not seen a nest appear yet but have seen the birds twice up there on that tower so it is likely that they will rebuild the nest.

I also expect to see a second nest somewhere close by as a back-up nest.  Two nests are the norm for many Bald Eagles.  Please click on the thumbnail image to see a slightly larger version of the picture.  Enjoy!  P.S. By the way, I do apologize for taking so long to post as my computer has been in the repair shop getting a new battery.  Wildlifewatcher
