Sunbathing
Anole Lizards being reptiles and cold-blooded animals, like to sunbathe to get warm. I could not imagine though, seeing lizards sunbathing on the tops of heat pump air conditioner units, of all things! It all stated when I looked out my window a couple of days ago and saw an Anole Lizard sitting on the air conditioner in the back yard. I went out to take a few pictures and noticed that the neighbor across from me also had a little lizard perched on top of their air conditioner. Aha, a trend, I thought!
I live in a neighborhood of attached row homes. To informally test my new hunch about the lizards, I quickly decided to take a short walk between the buildings down the back common grassy area. I did this early in the afternoon. Nearly every home I saw had one, two or three lizards sunning themselves on the air conditioners! Amazing! I like lizards. Lizards help keep the insect population in check. These small Anole Lizards seem common here in Florida. I took these pictures on May 2, 2013 in my yard and near my home.
