A Different Kind of Wildlife (Butterflies and Bees)

This blog has been showing a lot of birds, and animals but has seldom featured insects.  Well, today’s the day!  I recently enjoyed taking a few pictures of the coneflower  plants in my front yard.  I noticed that there were Eastern Tiger Swallowtail Butterflies as well as Yellow Bumblebees flying from blossom to blossom.  The bees and butterflies were doing the important work of pollinating the flowers.  I even caught a glimpse of several regular Honey Bees on the flowers, which is a rare sight these days.   So, today’s post will feature pictures of the Bumblebees, the Eastern Tiger Swallowtail Butterfly (Darker ones are in their Intermediate Stage of development) and the Honey Bee.  The flowers are Echinacea Purpura, commonly known as the Purple Coneflower. I took these pictures on July 30, 2011, and August 1, 2011.  Please click on the thumbnail image to see the larger picture.  Enjoy!
